went out to Jake P's first concert as a real high school band director last night...i was extremely impressed by the progress he has made with those group of kids in the middle of the cornfield...the concert was definitely highlighted by a visit from none other than one Erik Boehmke (sp?) who soloed with the band on the Haydn Trumpet Concerto (he was stellar of course but i was very impressed that the band kept up with him!)...the best part was when, after his solo work, Boehmke donned a Santa hat and played along with the band on Leroy Anderson's great Christmas classic Sleigh Ride...it was quite the evening!
pretty crazy week leading up to Christmas...various parties this weekend, Mom&Dad are coming out for a visit this weekend as well, and then next week will be spent getting ready for the big trip up to the burbs where we will bounce back and forth between Yorkville and Elmhurst for family and friend gatherings...Happy Holidays everyone!
